Opening and Trading an Account at Rydex Funds

Rydex Funds has a $25,000 minimum account size. This account minimum refers only to your total account size and not to the minimum required for any one Rydex Fund. If you do not wish to place $25,000 with the Rydex Funds family, Rydex funds can be purchased and sold in smaller amounts on a commission basis through an online brokerage.

You can arrange to have McDonald Capital Management make strategy exchanges in a Rydex model of your selection, provided the securities regulations in your State permit this service for a fee. Under its advisory agreement with Rydex, McDonald Capital Mangement advisory accounts do not have a minimum account requirement. Contact McDonald Capital Management about enrollment, pricing and other details

Consulting the Mutual Fund Investing Trading and Market Timing Strategy for Rydex Funds

Note: The assumption at this stage is that you have pre-determined the Rydex Funds suitable for your investment risk profile.

If this is your first investment in a Rydex Fund, or if an exchange is indicated by our strategy from a Rydex Fund you own, the first thing to do is to decide on the Rydex Fund into which you will exchange. The procedure is the same whether this is your first entry, or an exchange.

To see how we make our choices, consult:

Trading Funds at Rydex

  • When you have made your choice, go to Rydex Funds, click on "Access My Account", and log in.
  • On the Account Position page, click on "Trade Account" in left navigation bar.
  • On the Trade page, complete three steps.
    1. Under "Trade Type" use drop-down menu and click on "Exchange"; and under "Units" use the drop-down menu and click on "percentage".
    2. In "Trade From", use the drop-down menu and click on the fund from which you will be exchanging to bring it up into the window. In the "Amount" window, we enter 100 for 100%. Our Strategy always trades 100% when moving from one fund to another fund or funds.
    3. Under "Trade To", use the drop-down menu and click on or type in the name of the fund into which you are exchanging to bring it up into the window. This can be the money market fund. Opposite the name of the fund under "amount", enter 100 for 100% if the exchange you will be making is to one other fund. If the exchange you are making is to two funds, enter them one at a time in two "Trade To" windows and enter 50 for 50% for each in the "Amount" window.
  • Click on "Preview Trade", enter the trade, and wait for confirmation.
  • View the members' Daily Scoreboard and Fund Tables on our site to see when another exchange is indicated by the Strategy.
